I am not talking about what the clinical composition of cancer is, I am talking about the true identity of cancer. Cancer is one of the biggest thieves we have.
It is an identity thief - The moment you are told - you have cancer - your identity has changed.
It steals time - time at the doctor, time for infusions, surgeries, recoveries, follow-ups etc.
It abuses you emotionally, physically and sometimes spiritually.
I have seen it destroy families and friendships
Its destroyed dreams
It can destroy you financially
It makes you physically weak
It can destroy what you love to do.
It can make you doubt your judgements
It can steal your words, your thoughts.
That being said - please, please find resources to help you. You are important. Your identity is important, your dreams are important.
I will post some of those resources soon and there are many out there. I am not huge on therapy for myself - so I created this blog. This is my therapy and hopefully it will help someone else.
There are a number of ways to get help. You can call your doctor's office - they have resources. The churches in your area also have resources. Your workplace or your insurance also has resources. And there is always the internet. Reach out.
Remember there are different ways to cope as well. I am blogging and creating a garden - something I love. Focus on something you love that might take your mind off things. Art, painting, gardening, drawing, coloring - mindless things or things that make you focus a bit. write your own personal journal - share it - don't share it. Everyone is different and cancer affects everyone differently, and so does the chemo. These are just my ideas - hopefully you can find an outlet for you.
Remember you are not alone. Don't suffer alone there are people that want to help you and were sent to this Earth to do just that. They are the angels among us.
